Specs: Device Info & Widget
Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
This policy explains what information Specs handles on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS, and who receives it. Specs is made by CrioSoft.
- There is no account and no analytics. CrioSoft does not collect, store, share or sell information about you.
- Everything Specs shows is read from your device and stays on it.
- On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch there are no ads and no tracking, and the only internet connection is the speed test you start.
- The free Android app shows ads from Google AdMob until you remove them with a one-time purchase. The Wear OS app has no ads.
The Apple and Android versions work differently, so each has its own section below.
Information read on your device
Specs reads hardware and system information, such as the processor, memory, storage, battery, display, camera specifications, sensors, network interfaces, Bluetooth and software versions, and shows it in the app and in widgets. This information is not sent to CrioSoft or to anyone else.
Spec cards and system reports are created on your device. They leave it only when you share or save them yourself.
Specs reads the technical specifications of your cameras. It never takes photos, records video or listens to the microphone.
Specs asks for a permission only when you open the screen that needs it. Everything else keeps working if you decline, and the information a permission unlocks is only shown on screen.
App Store
Specs for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch
The Apple version is a paid app with no ads, no tracking and no analytics. It contains no advertising or third-party analytics code.
Permissions
- Bluetooth: to show Bluetooth information and the Bluetooth devices around you.
- Motion & Fitness: to show the barometer, today's steps and floors climbed, your current activity, such as walking or driving, and your head movement from AirPods. The compass, level and motion charts work without it.
- Location (iPhone and iPad): only after you tap Start in the GPS card, to show the accuracy, altitude and speed of your GPS fix. Specs never shows, stores or sends your coordinates.
- Network volumes (Mac): to show mounted network drives in the Storage and Network panels.
Network connections
The only internet connection Specs makes is the speed test, and only when you start it. Specs then downloads and uploads test data from Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com), with OVHcloud (proof.ovh.net) as a fallback, and measures latency against Apple's and Google's connectivity check addresses. As with any connection, these services see your IP address. Specs sends them nothing else, and your results are kept only on your device.
Purchase
Specs is bought on the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and CrioSoft never receives your name or payment details. Apple's handling of App Store purchases is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Storage and deletion
Your settings and speed test history are stored only on your device, where Specs' own widgets can read them. Deleting the app removes them. CrioSoft holds no information about you, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
Google Play
Specs for Android and Wear OS
The Android app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. A one-time purchase removes them. The Wear OS app has no ads.
Permissions
- Nearby devices: to list your paired devices and, when you start a scan, the Bluetooth devices around you with their names and signal strength. The scan is declared as not used to determine location.
- Location: Android requires it to show the name and details of your Wi-Fi network and the satellite view. Specs never shows, stores or sends your coordinates.
- Phone: to show the cellular network type and SIM details.
- Physical activity: to show the step counter.
- Heart rate (Wear OS): to show the live reading of the watch's heart-rate sensor. It is not recorded or sent anywhere.
- Notifications: to show the progress of a speed test you started.
Network connections
- Speed test: when you start a test, Specs downloads and uploads test data from Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com), with OVHcloud (proof.ovh.net) as a fallback, and measures latency against Google's connectivity check addresses. As with any connection, these services see your IP address. Specs sends them nothing else, and your results are kept only on your device.
- Ads: Google AdMob, described below.
- Purchase: Google Play, described below.
- Wear OS: the watch app sends the watch's hardware specs to Specs on your paired phone through Google's Wear OS Data Layer, between your own devices.
Ads
The Android app shows a banner ad on each screen and, at most once every five minutes, a full-screen ad. The ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC (Google Ireland Limited in the European Economic Area and Switzerland).
To show and measure ads, limit how often they appear and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects the following and shares it with Google:
- the device's advertising ID and other device identifiers
- your IP address, from which an approximate location can be derived
- your interactions with ads, such as views and taps
- diagnostic information, such as crash logs and performance data
- device and system details, such as the model, Android version and language
Data is encrypted in transit. CrioSoft receives only aggregated reports from AdMob, such as the number of ads shown, and never information that identifies you.
Your choices
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and US states where the law requires it, Specs shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice at any time with Privacy Choices in the app's Settings.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's Settings, under Privacy, then Ads.
- The one-time Remove Ads purchase turns ads off for good. Specs then stops requesting ads and no longer starts the Google ads SDK.
How Google uses this information:
Purchase
The Remove Ads purchase is made on Google Play. Google processes the payment, and CrioSoft never receives your name or payment details. Specs asks Google Play only whether you own Remove Ads and remembers the answer on your device.
Storage and deletion
Your settings, speed test history and purchase status are stored only on your device, and deleting the app removes them. CrioSoft holds no information about you, so there is nothing to delete on our side. For information Google collects through ads, use Google's controls linked above.
Children
Specs is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children.
